Lieutenant Governor Mark Hutchison Receives Award from the Southern Nevada Homebuilders Association

Lt. Gov. Mark Hutchison today received an award from the Southern Nevada Homebuilders Association for his consistent work to strengthen Nevada’s economy. Following the award ceremony, Lt. Gov. Hutchison released the following statement:

“What an honor to be recognized by such an outstanding organization like SNHBA,” said Lieutenant Governor Mark Hutchison. “It’s been a pleasure to work with them, especially during the most recent legislative session, to ensure Nevadans have quality and affordable communities they can call home. It’s important that we remain vigilant in keeping Southern Nevada competitive to continue driving economic growth here in Nevada.”

“The association is pleased to have the lieutenant governor as our honored guest, and present him with an award in recognition of his leadership on behalf of our members,” said outgoing SNHBA President Larry Simon. “Mark Hutchison is an exceptional public servant who has worked tirelessly to strengthen Nevada’s economy as we continue to recover from the Great Recession.”

Background on relevant legislation during Nevada’s 78th Legislative Session supported by SNHBA:

  AB 125 –This bill revised provisions in Chapter 40 that govern how construction defect claims are brought forth and adjudicated.
  SB 374 – Establishes a process for the transition from the existing net metering program into a program including a tariff for net metering customers to offset costs of net metering and non-solar customers.
  SB 477 – This bill requires a municipality to conduct a cost-benefit study before mandating the installation of fire sprinklers in residential homes.
