LAS VEGAS, NV - March 16, 2016
The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) sold $292 million in bonds to be used primarily to construct Project Neon, the largest construction project in Nevada’s history. The sale of bonds will also save the taxpayers $14 million.
As the Vice Chairman of NDOT’s Board of Directors, Lt. Governor Mark Hutchison issued this statement following the announcement:
“It is a great day when we can save Nevadans money, but it’s an especially great day when we can save them $14 million. As the Vice Chairman of NDOT, I’m pleased that most of the proceeds from the sale of these bonds will be used to improving infrastructure at the most traveled section of highway in Nevada. Project Neon will relieve traffic congestion and enhance vehicular safety from the U.S. 95/I-15 interchange to Sahara Avenue and improve accessibility to this vital part of the Las Vegas valley.
