Today, Nevada Lieutenant Governor Kate Marshall announced key staff hires.
In a nod to the incoming majority female legislature, Marshall stated, “I’m excited to bring this talented group of individuals to the Lieutenant Governor’s office during such a historical moment in our state and our nation.” Marshall added, “Their experience and expertise will ensure our office is responsive to the needs of all Nevadans, from the south to the north and everywhere in between.”
The hires are:
Courtney McKimmey, Senior Policy Director
Courtney McKimmey is a native Nevadan who grew up in Gardnerville and is a graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno. Her background includes working with a variety of small businesses and startups in the Reno area, in addition to community organizing and political management. McKimmey joined Marshall’s campaign in 2017 helping guide the campaign to victory. She currently serves on the Nevada Alumni Council and is a member of the City of Reno’s Access Advisory Committee.
Christina Lopez, Director of Communications and Outreach
Christina Lopez is a seasoned communications consultant specializing in inclusivity, diversity, harassment prevention, and leadership development. Prior to serving as the Regional Organizing Director in East Las Vegas for the 2018 midterm election, she led the largest single-manager Community Engagement Fellowship in the nation with Organizing for Action. Lopez has a proven track record in leadership, community organizing, and coalition building, all skills imperative to successfully leading and managing the Lieutenant Governor’s community outreach efforts.
Kate Wilson, Director of Strategic Initiatives
Kate Wilson was born and raised in Reno and attended the University of Nevada earning her degree in Political Science and Philosophy. Specializing in media, polling, and analytics, Wilson brings her expertise in successfully targeting and executing political and professional campaigns to the Lieutenant Governor’s office. In her most recent position with Priorities USA, Wilson oversaw media strategies for the coordinated campaign across four states, including Nevada. Her prior experience includes serving as National Regional Media Director with Hillary for America coordinating media and polling for nine battleground states, in addition to working for former Senator Harry Reid’s Re-election in 2010, as well as, Obama’s Re-election in 2012.
