Lt. Governor Krolicki Seeking Veterans to Participate in GWOT Oral History Project

LT. GOVERNOR KROLICKI SEEKING VETERANS TO PARTICIPATE

IN GWOT ORAL HISTORY PROJECT

(Carson City, Nevada) – Lt. Governor Brian K. Krolicki announced that members of his staff will be traveling throughout rural northern Nevada next week to gather interviews from Global War on Terrorism (GWOT) veterans for his recently -announced Veterans Oral History Project entitled Battle Born: Nevada War Stories.  GWOT is a broadly used term that indicates those who have served in the current conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.

“In the almost eight years since the attacks of September 11th, American service members have been called to serve multiple tours in a war with at least two fronts,” said Lt. Governor Krolicki.  Battle Born will be a respectful and fitting tribute to the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines – and their families – who have given so much of themselves.”

Battle Born is a new initiative created by the Lt. Governor to document the stories of Nevada’s newest veterans.  Based on the tradition of wartime works, the stories will be video and audio taped and made available to the public on the Lt. Governor’s website.  The stories will be about preparing for battle, surviving in combat and support missions, being fired upon and perhaps wounded, grieving and dealing with the deaths of friends, and coping with the extraordinary stress of military service during wartime.

“Our work in conjunction with the State’s economic development and tourism commissions allows us to make regular forays into cities and towns across Nevada,” said Lt. Governor Krolicki.  “We are delighted that we can incorporate this important project into our travels.”

To discuss appointments with members of the Lt. Governor’s staff, please contact Caleb Cage at cscage@ltgov.nv.gov or by calling 775-684-7122. This will be the first of several many trips throughout the state to gather such interviews, all aimed at providing a convenient opportunity for interested parties throughout the State’s 17 counties.
